·         Asking parents, children, families, teachers etc questions about the arts: Examples
o   What do you usually do on a weekend?
o   Do you know of any Art, Dance, Music, etc events that are happening at the moment?
o   How do you find out about these events?
o   Do you think The Arts are important?
o   Do you like to dance, sing, act, draw, paint, play music etc?
o   Have you been to an Art Gallery, Auckland Art Gallery?
o   Have you been to a play, ballet, dance, concert, orchestra, opera, puppet show, art gallery etc?

·         Research and reading of articles about projects (UNICEF and Auckland Council documents)
·         Visit to City for research, inspiration, questions
·         Visiting/ Looking at Auckland Art Gallery, Aotea Square etc.
·         Question or inquiries – possible emailing, interviewing etc these places
·         What spaces and places are in the city?
·         What do they offer at these places?
·         Is there anything for the children to do actively e.g. create art work, try out instruments etc?
·         Are these events free or not?
·         What would we like to find out more about?

·         If possible visiting these places to see what they look like, what they have to offer, is it child friendly, etc.

·         Going from the evaluation and assessment and from what is currently available in relation to The Arts (visual, dance, drama and music) – How could we improve on these or make something available?
·         Creation of research questions from what we have found out and how we are going to solve/ answer them.
·         Brainstorming and extending on ideas we come up with
·         Possible people, places or companies we could phone, email, interview etc about these ideas
·         Assigning parts and roles for the project – what are people’s strengths; able to do etc?
